With the approach of sunset, monks pray around the "stupa" at Sarnath, near Varanasi. This is where Gautama Buddha gave his first sermons and is widely regarded as one of the holiest of the Buddhist sites.

This is where Gautama Buddha gave his first sermons and is widely regarded as one of the holiest of the Buddhist sites. I don't do temples, but this was a good vantage point where I could take some excellent images on my own terms (meaning, I didn't have to go barefoot).
